Winthrop Days & Father's Day 2014

Vacation Bible School ended on Thursday, so on Friday, we headed to the library. :) Too cute not to post...

Fizz, Boom, Read is the theme this year and though we have not been around to participate in much of the activities, all the girls really enjoy reading, keeping track on their cards and collecting goodies for doing so! Mom's favorite is all the free ice-cream we rack up from DQ ;)

VBS led straight into Winthrop/Father's Day weekend and though we did not head into town on Friday night for the street dance (that I was sad about) we did go in on Saturday, June 14 for the parade.

Look Dad, nerds! (King Dad loves nerds :D )

Pork royalty, Clay, Carter & McKenna Wilgenbusch.

The scene of downtown Winthrop

Yum Dots!!!

I just went looking for a comparison pic of this shot, and found last year's Winthrop Days post, Winthrop Days 2013... that's why I was so sad about not going to the street dance! It was so much fun :)

We went to the park so the kids could jump on the inflatables and run around...

Tractor races :) and we always donate our pink tractor for the event...

When LeaAnn saw it, she was a bit confused :) but quickly got over it and jumped on.

Truly... she rides the thing everywhere.

Kyle and his batman face painting :)

And how fun was this! Kris Wilgenbusch lined the PowerTrain pulling team to come and compete against and teach others how it's done and how to do it. The kids had a BALL!

Boys vs Girls of course :)

Pull!

Boys lost the first time (w/a little extra help of course ;)

Regroup

here we go again!

LOVE the face expressions :)

Lydia joined in...

Pretty sure the boys won that time... the anchor support was the deal breaker :) regardless, the kids had a blast and  hope they come again next  year!

Four-tunate indeed... Happy 12th Anniversary to us...

And Happy Father's Day to our 'King' & 'Super' Dad!

VBS 2014

Monday, June 9 - Thursday, June 12, 2014

Our summer started off with VBS at our Church of Christ United. And new this year were the directors, Lisa Tempus and myself! So needless to say, it was a lot of work, and I was stressed, not going to lie... but we pulled it off! Tweaked the scene from night-time to day, from August to June, incorporated lots of new moms to help, and I think everyone liked the change-up! We had 65 kids roughly all 4 days and we were so pleased!

The crafts were awesome! So much time that went into them, kudos to Lisa, Julie & Amber b/c I definitely do not have the patience for that :)

Zip-line Bible time was amazing. Lisa did such a great job making it entertaining and fun... also a HUGE job, and I don't know how she did it.

Games was organized by Maggie :) who did a fabulous job as well! Mimi & Pap came out to visit and brought the little girls in for me on Tuesday!

She even made them work-out ;)

We had an great time, awesome/cute snacks (didn't upload those :) and the music the kids loved! We brought in a huge blow-up screen and the kids loved to dance w/the videos. 4-days seemed to be the perfect amount of time and I can honestly say I'd do it again next year :D

Until then!

our first night in Ohio...

Thursday, July 10, 2014

It was a loooonnng drive for the littles and myself. Mainly b/c of an Urgent Care stop for Lydia in Champagne, IL who came down w/a fever and refused to eat lunch :( Chris helped me figure out where to go, so I called, and thanks to my smart phone, I was able to have instant directions. I was going to have to take her one way or another and I'd rather get it done before we got to Mimi & Pap's so we could do this(!) when we got there. Once the Advil kicked in she kept telling me that she didn't need to go to the Dr anymore, and I wanted to believe her, but I knew better ;)

The little two were really, really good... I was just missing my big-girl helpers w/snacks and movies and sound and blankets and, and, and :) And then finally we see the blue-rainbow that welcomes us into Ohio and LeaAnn says, "yeah! we're at Mimi's!!" And... that's not exactly how it goes, there's another 40-minutes to go :) But! We made it, safe & sound, and Mimi jumped through all the necessary hoops to have the medicine there when we arrived.

And as soon as we were done w/dinner, we hit the pond! (ie: super glad I didn't have to drive to an Urgent Care ;)

And I tried really, really hard to get them all to look :)

the sunlight was just gorgeous...

Bowser (Donnie's & Ashley's pup) was there as well and chased the kids around the pond :)

I just adore these series of photos...

Lindsay's camera skills in action :)

thanks Linds! SO happy we made it!!!
