Baby chicks!

Thursday, 3/29/12

We had baby chicks once... and the girls adored them :) Actually, they adored them SO much that they didn't grow very well ;)  I'm sure it had nothing to do with them being used as 'baby-dolls' when the girls played house in the chicken shed! ;) And it didn't help that we had unwelcome guests who liked to eat our chickens! :(  However, the girls loving the chicks really was adorable, but we rescued them by taking them up to our neighbors house, Craig & Kris Wilgenbusch.  Since then, our neighbors have continued raising layers and selling the eggs at the local co-op in Winthrop. I do hope we could do it someday ... just have to figure out how to keep raccoon out of our shed first!

I had way too much fun going back to find these :)   May 7, 2009 ~ I was preggo with Lydia and the girls were running to the shed to see the new baby chicks.
Yes, that is a sticker on Lauren's head :) she put it there herself! Lauren at 4 & Lindsay 2-8mo.

It's amazing to me that Lindsay (in these pictures) is just 4-months older than Lydia is right now!

 Back to 2012...
Craig & Kris just bought some new baby chicks and invited us up to see them... and Lydia was all sorts of excited. "I see baby chickens, Mommy!"

Big girls were super excited too... they DO NOT understand WHY we can't get our very own like we had before!

Lauren at almost 7?!?  (How is that possible... )

Ms. Lindsay Rae at 5-7mo

Lydia completely smitten with the 'baby chickens'

Clay & Carter were super helpful with both of the little girls, but I couldn't 'catch' them to get a picture of them!  Pretty quick little guys :)  (Side note, the boys will be in Lindsay's Kindergarten class!)

Ms. LeaAnn on the other hand wasn't quite sure what to think of these 'cheeping' creatures :)

But she eventually warmed up to them :)

The never-stop-helping 'biggest' sister Lauren :)

I love this side-profile of Lindsay... reminds me of when she was little.

Here Lydia is saying, "Day skweaming Mommy!"  And I said, "Lydia, they're 'cheeping'."  And she kept telling me, "No Mommy, they skweaming."  It was really funny.

She started off squeezing them, but listened so intently and held them very gently at the end.

"Look Carter!"

"Oh... that's where they come from," LeaAnn says...

"OK, so I want IN there Craig!" :o)
