24-hr mom get-a-way

Lacy Short called me a month ago and said, "Friday, April 5th, Wade Bowen plays in Leon, IA at a little bar called the Wood Shed. Pretty sure myself and Whitney (life-long-friend) are going to go, would you be interested in coming with me?" SOLD! 

Though I did not of course tell Chris all of this at once.. it was a slow process. Not b/c he would not have wanted me to go... just with the stress of a new job, etc. I wanted to make sure it was not going to interfere with things already in motion. As it happened... everything worked out perfectly :)

Grammy agreed to keep the littles and big girls rode the bus to her house after school. That night, Chris picked them up and took Grammy + girls to dinner for Masonville fish. He said all four girls were so good, it was ridiculous. :D

Lacy and I had a 4-hr trip down (it's an hour south of Des Moines)... stopped for a few returns and then headed to Long Creek Outfitters (Long Creek Outfitters) 

I may have been just a teeny bit excited ... to say the least  :) B/c I knew in the back of my mind, I really wanted to find a new pair of boots... and I did!

 I do still love my old ones. I even still love the fact that they are Lacers, even though they are outdated and no one wears them anymore (or sells them for that matter) but they were a size 6!!! I bought them when I was in college, I just can't believe my feet were that little? Anyhow... I've been wearing them ever since I found a pair of wranglers last year, but they are snug, and hurt my big toe just a little... So when I slipped these on (which I think scream "Jayme") I sighed out-loud b/c they are so comfy! :D Completely worth the splurge.

We then headed to our humble abode :) A house in the middle of Leon. We rented both the Queen suite...

and the King Suite :)

even had our own parking garage!

Took this picture b/c I have my belt on :) Also from college... I really thought I was going to wear it... but unless I stood straight up like this all night, it was going to be a little uncomfortable ;) I might try it one more time if I ever get to go to that country/dancing-bar in Cedar Rapids :)

Here is the Rumley Brothers who opened for Wade. AWESOME. Would LOVE to get them up to North East Iowa for some summer-fun... somewhere. :) Anywhere! They were funny & easy to listen to.

And here is Wade Bowen! Though I had never heard his music before, it was a great concert! Lacy told me that he doesn't play in 'intimate' settings like these anymore. Actually, he even said during the concert, "I forgot what it was like to have everyone up close like this"... So it was really cool to be up-close and personal :) He has a huge following, most of the people there had traveled to see him.

We had a really great time and would absolutely go again! :D Thank you Lacy for the invite and wonderful time!!! :)
