River City Rodeo

And the other end of Mimi & Pap's weekend was this :) Our adult get-a-way to the River City Rodeo in Omaha! Saturday, September 28, 2013.

We spent the night in Des Moines on Friday and ate at Joe's Crabby Shack (had never been and it was great!). Headed out on Saturday morning and get this.. Chris said, "we can go to the mall if you want too..." A nearly fell out of bed! Not only did we 'go' to the mall, he even picked out and TRIED ON jeans!!! This is a first.. the first time in my 13 years of knowing him has this happened. One other time he walked into a mall and bought jeans... but refused to try them on, so you can see why now I was so shocked! I found the perfect shirt for the rodeo, and we were off.

Left Des Moines, drove to Neola, Iowa, to find a few appetizers and a drink... and here is where we ended up... The Buck Snort! (click here to see their menu - Buck Snort) It is almost shameful to be so enamoured with fried appetizers... but they were really good. We almost ordered a Swamp Donkey burger and I think if we ever go back, we will :)

Ended up at our destination hotel in Omaha, NE ... the Homewood Suites. Ever heard of it before? A-maz-ing. A full kitchen in every room... and as the name suggests, every room is a suite. So cool. I finally got to meet everyone that Chris talks about from work! Such nice people, very genuine and sweet. They treated us to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, the Rodeo and to a night out after the rodeo... it was so. much. fun. Another night that I wish I could rewind and do it all over again :)

The rodeo was  REAL rodeo... we saw an awards cermony and everything at the end. The winners were heading to Vegas for the final show! My only regret, was that I did not take any pictures... this was it.
