And we graduated to the 'field-day' portion of Friends & Family Day this year! Field day is for 3rd through 6th graders and starts at 9am and runs through 11:30 or so. The rest of the elementary comes out at that point, then you find your 'adult' that you are having a picnic lunch with, after lunch, everyone heads in for the Kindergarten - 2nd grade concert. A full day event!
I decided to take the littles to all of it... figuring they could manage, but we arrived at 9:10, and Lauren's 1st of 4 events, , girls-only relay was the very first event and we missed it :( And they won it!
But here we are on her 2nd event, the co-ed relay, and they won again!
Entertainment while waiting on more 3rd grade competition ... it was freezing!
This is the 3rd grade bleacher :) we walked to the other side of the field so that the winds was at our backs..
Regardless, all the kids had a fabulous time!
It was cold... not gonna lie ;)
3rd race of the day, the piggy-back race...
As they were getting ready to start, Mrs. Wall & Mrs. Lehs (3rd grade teachers) were saying to us, "this is really hard, and the kids don't think it will be." They did practice, but still, that's a long way to run w/someone on your back! Poor Frankie, it hurt! But she stood right back up and they finished the race together.
And then the 3-legged-race w/Keeley. I felt just terrible b/c they were such a great fit together! You can see that as they warmed up, but first step out of the gate, down they went :( Good try though girls! Next year ;)
Olivia Yearous and Lydia... they developed this bond at the dance recital ;)
Frankie, LeaAnn & Lauren... the littles loved the attention.
After that last event, we did walk back and get in the van... the wind was so COLD! We walked back for the ribbon hand-out and snapped these pictures.
Found Grammy...
And went to the playground for lunch. Here is Kindergarten during the concert, Kreighton is in the front, and 2 rows up is Parker Kress.
The song they were singing brought tears to my eyes! Something about being little as a Kindergartner and then growing up so fast... <sigh>. Lauren was just there...
Onto 1st grade :) Ms. Lindsay Rae did such a great job smiling, and dancing to the music the whole time! Dad met us for the concert, and the littles really didn't do too bad!
Though after the concert we came home and I laid them down b/c we had softball games after that! Wonderful day despite the weather :)

Lindsay! Such the showman! I see Thespians/Show choir in her future! And didn't Shawn Bargery say once that Lindsay looked like me? :) I saw it here.
