After 14-yrs, Chris finally went back to Copper Mountain, Colorado to go skiing :) with his oldest 2 daughters! (ie: mom forced the issue, and pushed him out of his comfort zone, and he left the state on 'vacation'... first time since Alabama!) After much, "shouldn't we just wait on getting tickets? prices won't go up that much, right? can we talk about this on Friday?" :) Even the day before leaving, "are you sure Jaym, we can just switch the name on the ticket and you can go"... ?!? Silly King Dad... tricks are for kids! Regardless, the most important part is that he DID go, with his phone and computer, but I believe he relaxed... and with the sight of the mountains, how could you not.
So here we are the morning of...
They were really sweet... and luckily, Jody persisted on coming over for a visit, and so the little girls and I packed up ourselves and headed to Story City - click here Little girls trip to the Larson's - thank goodness we had something else to do and think about except for King Dad & big sisters doing something fun on a mountain with Grammy & Aunt Barb (that we were not involved in! ;))
Props to Chris... he did his best, and did an amazing job taking pictures & video for me :) Here they are on the plane
The first day before ski lessons! Aunt Barb so graciously treats all nieces & nephews to a day of ski school on their first trip out to Copper Mountain... not to mention free lodging in her condo located at the bottom of the mountain! Click here to see me in Colorado last year for Jill's 40th celebration! days 1 & 2 & day 3
Grammy & Aunt Barb kept Chris hopping the whole day... not even time for lunch! But he was really happy, said it came right back to him (just like I told him it would!) and he wasn't sore the next day... much to his relief :) What a gorgeous site...
Every time I look at this pic, my stomach drops for a second... I'm not kidding!!! He's looking down on the ski lift... (he's looking down!!!)
The 2nd day was a little more relaxed as Lauren & Lindsay were with them all day...
Here comes Lindsay down the mountain :)
waving 'hi'!
and Lauren...
They are so relaxed!
Yeah King Dad!!! :D Awesome job filming ...
One of these is Dad showing off ;) he's skiing backwards... who does that?!?
Lunch that day :)
They loved the ski lifts... I was so relieved :)
Perfect & sunny weather = sunburn on the mountain!
Practicing getting up... Aunt Barb demonstrating ... of course :)
A new nickname... fluffy :)
No vacation is complete without some blackjack... with chocolate chips of course ;) oh and games of Sorry... they made sure to pack that :)
I'm so happy for them!! Was & still am :) and just elated that the girls' got this super special trip with their dad... before everything... hair, makeup, etc, etc, etc :) Hope the tradition can continue...
On Monday, they headed down the mountain and stopped at a museum in downtown Denver.. girls' got this picture taken :) I need to ask them details about this...so funny though!
THANK YOU Aunt Barb for an amazing vacation and experience... truly one they will never forget :)
