Day #4 of the fair! Friday, Chris went to work, and we went to the Garden Gate barn to find Grammy :) And this year, the girls made their only Chia pets!
And veggie animals again :) always a favorite
Also in the Garden Gate building are the public photo entries, which I entered 3 and got a 2nd in the people category with this one :)
And forgot to post Lauren & Lindsay's photographs that they submitted, and here they are!
The first 3 are Lindsay's and she received a green ribbon for all 3...
My favorite :)
And Lauren's, she received a blue
Blue
And a Purple! If she would have been old enough, she could have went to State with it :)
Later that day, more rides :)
Not sure what we did on Friday night... oh yes! Chris & I watched the end of the tractor pull with free seats by sitting up above on a trailer ;) put the little girls down b/c they were exhausted :)
Here we are on Saturday, July 12 for the livestock auction + bucket of flowers.
Tried to get Lauren auctioning off her pig, but it didn't work. Sean Baragary bid for G&W Pork who were nice enough to purchase it from her! Also on this day was the kiddie tractor pull!
Free watermelon was given out by the Buch Co Soil & Water Conservation, great idea on their part :)
HUGE pieces I might add ;)
Lindsay with Gavin, Carter & Clay
All the kids
They started with the little kids, and they separated boys & girls .. so fair! That didn't happen when I was kiddie pulling ;)
Then Lydia
Lindsay
Lindsay had a pull-off
And last but not least, Lauren :) They all qualified for the state kiddie pull in Marshalltown (there is such a thing!)
These two were hilarious :)
And also at the same time was Master Showmanship... which is also different that Butler County... they let Junior, Intermediate, and Seniors all participate. And they have all animals going at once. AND when Keeley found out she got to participate, she started studying immediately! As in the judges asked them 5 questions about each breed. For example, what would the notches look like on a pig for the number 54, how many inches in a hand, what ear tag would you use on each species... no joke! Both the judges were super complimentary to all of these showman, and was super happy that Lauren & Lindsay got to see this in action!
Here is Mackenzie Curtis (her mom, Tracy, who everyone thinks I look like ;)
And Keeley!
Also, Bethany Cook
And here is your Junior Grand Champion Master Showman! Keeley Kehrli :)
And while Master Showmanship was going on, the little girls were running around, and managed to catch some of the alligator show, ran up to me and
And that night, the concert! We were fortunate enough to have VIP tickets, sent Lauren & Lindsay into the stands with Keeley, and Jeanette was nice enough to take Lydia & LeaAnn to her house to spend the night.
And so that was the end. The end to a fabulous week and first year at the fair... we pulled the camper home on Sunday, and the girls never quit playing with all of their toys :) even the big girls played with them ;)
That evening a dancing concert...
And even Dad joined in... so blessed, in so many ways...
