We headed downstairs to see what we could find in Mimi's basement! Girls enjoyed it and so did I :) However, still don't know what to do with all my old costumes. Here is Lauren with my sophomore homecoming dress on.
Lindsay with my batman jazz outfit...
Lauren's turn... pretty sure we're going to have a hard time deciding who will wear this costume come October ;)
And then we found it... my favorite dress ever. My Great-Grandma Alice made me this dress for the Jacksonburg Sesquicentennial the summer of 1985. I would have worn it everyday to school if I could have. I wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder so bad it hurt :) and I was positive that this was an exact replica of what she would have worn to town. :)
was going for the 'old' affect... did it work?
The ruffles, my favorite part!
The attached petti-coat which makes it heavy. Made it even more believable to me, that it was exactly what Laura would have worn ;)
And so of course this treasure hunting in the basement made me go searching for comparison pictures :) (aka, this blog has taken way longer than it should have ;) Here we are getting ready in Candi Williams' bedroom. She is my second-cousin and she was my babysitter/girl I adored growing up. Riding her horse Shadow, four-wheeler rides, bike rides, swimming in her pool & jumping out for strawberries, bottle rockets on the patio... just a sampling of the memories I have from their house. My Great-Aunt Shirley is in the front right of the picture, one of my pseudo-grandma's growing up.
I was 7-1/2, almost exactly Lauren's age. We are standing in the back of Laura Mae's house in 'down-town' Jacksonburg ;)
Great-Grandma Alice also made Candi's dress... I really wanted a hoop skirt like she had.
And here Candi is on-stage for her age-group...
And here I am on-stage. I was interviewed, but not a clue what they asked or what I said. Looking closely at the sign it says, Friday-Sunday, June 14-16, 1985. Who knew!? 17-years to the day I would be getting married in Jacksonburg. I know there are more pictures, particularly a close-up of Candi & I.... hopefully I'll be able to find them. Neither of us won.. but obviously we should have ;) I remember that I did not 'show-off' the ruffles, and that I should have!
Back to Mimi's house :D LeaAnn wanted to join in the picture taking...
what a smile she has :)
Oh my!!! I think we danced to NKOTB?!? She loved it though.... pretty sure it's coming home with us too.
gymnastics worthy for sure!

These are hilarious! So happy your mom saved all of these! Makes me think it is going to worth while to save Kreighton's stuff :)
