February 2016 - sledding + Lauren's 1st Volleyball game + 4H ice skating

2/12/16
Chris actually beat us home on Wednesday the 10th... all his girls were glad to have him home :)
and on Friday the girls' had their Valentine's Day celebrations at school! Sadly and to no surprise, I have no other pictures, except this one. I delivered balloons and thees candy boxes to school for the girls.

Right after school, the 4 of us left for Story City! I had a 4H mandatory leadership training that I had to go to on Saturday... but there was supposed to be a really big storm on Sunday... the whole thing made me anxious... but we went anyway :) LeaAnn opted to stay with King Dad... he took her out to eat at R Place and they went to work on Saturday morning... they BOTH had a fabulous weekend together :)

We got to see Emma perform her cheers on Friday night :) we drove straight there...
this was AFTER we stopped at Scheels in Cedar Falls to see if we could find softball pants... but instead, found myself a new coat and sweater! Yay, me :D

Long story short... we drove to Nevada at 8:00am the next morning for Riley's basketball game, which is also where my 4H training was. Chris and I decided that instead of him & LeaAnn driving over, the girls and I would just come home instead of trying to decide if the storm really was going to happen, if/who would drive home in it, etc, etc.

So after my SIX-HOUR training (whoa!)...and with heart-broken kids and an anxious mom... we left at 5:00pm, and drove to the Peck's in order to watch the Iowa State basketball game... at the same time that LeaAnn deemed herself a Hawkeye fan!!  Way to go Maggie ;)
2/13/16

2/14/16 - LeaAnn's original Christmas present from Aunt Jody didn't fit, so I took it home to her... she LOVES the new monkey baby :)

So now it's Sunday, 2/14 - Valentine's day... and it does eventually snow and blow... and the roads were horrible... so glad we came home yesterday. But! We still have this 4H meeting to deal with... we originally planned an early meeting in order to sled as a fun group outing... turned out to be less than desirable conditions...
We went ahead with it anyhow .. and a few of the girls even braved it out to go sledding!

Thanks to Keith & Jill Wilgenbusch and Colin Flexenhaur for sticking it out with all the kids! Because it was COLD... and windy... but truly, the girls had a great time.

And then Monday happened! 2/15/16
EB did not have school, so I planned not to work... so I made the girls a big breakfast, and we pretended that it was Valentine's Day all over again, b/c Sunday didn't really feel all that 'lovely' ;)
So we packed up and went sledding at Grammy's!

It was amazing out!! Not cold and not windy... a perfect day to go sledding.

I tried to reschedule the sledding at Keith & Jill's for the next Sunday... but Keith was worried there would be no snow with the forecast... and he was right. This snow that we sledded on was only there for 48-hours!!

LeaAnn - so fun!

We had such a great time! Grammy fed us soup and corn bread for lunch... and the girls managed to get hot chocolate out of the deal :) and we made it in time for Monday dance.

2/17/16 - and I was not lying... Here we are on Wednesday... it was like 50-degrees outside with no wind!! So I grilled pork chops :D

On Thursday... a surprise package arrived addressed to LeaAnn... from Target. What could it be?
I had no idea... SURPRISE!! From Miss Maggie of course :)

To say this girl was excited is an understatement!!

Over the moon... even though the shirt was too small... she'd hear nothing of it. :D

My attempts at recording a 'Snap' thank-you to send to Maggie

Friday, 2/19  - the wind blew... can you tell? But also take notice... the planks are out!! That's good news :) means it's warming up and we have mud!

Saturday, 2/20/16 - 1st volleyball game of the year! Coach Elisa during a 1/2 time :)

She did it! Great serve Lauren :)

And this super smart 3rd-grader helped in the concession stand almost all morning :) making change like a champ!

Really fun to watch them... we have many more Saturday games coming up!

Sunday, 2/21 - and on Sunday... we went ice skating again!
It was planned by a few of the girls who had showed up to our 4H meeting the Sunday before... instead of sledding, they wanted to go ice-skating. And on this morning... I really did not feel like going (the house was a disaster... though it's always a disaster :) I'm learning to live in it ;) and I was in the mode to work on clothes... (Grammy taught us a new way to fold clothes, and it's awesome!!)

But in fact, we did have girls who wanted to go ... and I thought, Jayme, you committed, you need to go. And I'm so glad we did!! We picked up Charli on our way to Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

Melaina and Gracyn met us there... we had a fabulous time.

I am so mad I did not save the videos I had posted to Snap Chat!!! I had so many good ones... but here is what I did get. Lydia & LeaAnn have come so far!! I would love to sign them up for lessons ...

The girls did just amazing... and Cedar Rapids is AWESOME. We had the whole place to ourselves for an hour, it was huge, the ice was smooth... really incredible. And there was a 7th grade figure skater there and she was amazing... the girls were obsessed with her :)

And now... I am officially caught up!! Just in time for a new Volleyball game and someone is turning 5 NEXT WEEK!!!
